Join Crawford Stewardship Project for sinkhole exploration and verification in Crawford County hotspot
Can you tell your sinkhole from a hole in the ground?
Join Crawford Stewardship Project for our annual Karst Geology Exploration on July 28 in Seneca, the most sinkhole-dense area in the county!
We’ve mapped 459 sinkholes across Crawford County, and are ready for the next phases of our project, mapping groundwater susceptibility in our county. At this event, you will have the opportunity to learn more about our karst bedrock and groundwater with Professor Kelvin Rodolfo, then come outside with us for our first on-the-ground sinkhole verifications!
Come to the Seneca County Highway Department Community Building (21515 WI Hwy 27) Saturday, July 28 from 1:00-4:30 pm to gain a better understanding of our hydrology and contribute directly to the improvement of important regional data about our groundwater susceptibility. The first hour will take place indoors, and please bring appropriate clothing for the weather conditions and for walking through fields and woods for our sinkhole explorations.
Light refreshments will be provided. This event is free and open to the public of all ages.
