About the event
Crawford County is considering applications for two industrial-scale hog facilities in Marietta Township. The operations are owned by the same people, are located within a few thousand feet of each other, and in the permit applications are referred to as “Gruber North” and “Gruber South."
The October 14 hearing (and concurrent public comment period) is the sole opportunity for the local community to put forward questions and concerns. A large turn-out will send a strong, meaningful message regarding the degree to which our community values and will stand up to protect local water and quality of life. It will make it known that we care and are watching, as well as sending a strong message to any other industrial operations considering building here.
The weight of hogs at each one of these 2 facilities would be roughly equal to the weight of the human population of Prairie Du Chien.
