Grazing
-
Our work:
-
Increase awareness and education surrounding grazing as both a viable business and effective tool for increasing resilience.
-
Strengthen regional farming networks through partnerships and collaborations
-
Improve water and nutrient retention on the landscape

In 2023 Crawford Stewardship introduced the North Crawford Community Pastures Program, a hands-on grazing education program for North Crawford School. The program aims to increase the amount of educational opportunities offered to K-12 students via the grazing of sheep on school grounds while simultaneously reducing land maintenance costs and invasive species on the property.
In early 2025 we partnered with Boscobel School to move forward with a grazing program on their 80 acre school forest. This program focuses on the rotational grazing of beef cattle according to an NRCS grazing plan.
Local Control
Help make the decisions that affect your community!
Crawford Stewardship Project urges local people to participate in the decision making processes of local government. Attending meetings may seem mundane but it is the heart of our right and responsibility to govern our own community, and an opportunity for real connection. CSP trusts that the best decisions are made with all stakeholders at the table, using good process to meet divisive issues with collaboration and teamwork.
Our work: [TIDY THIS UP]
-
Empower local people with information and clarity on how to engage with our municipal and county governments.
-
Facilitate broad participation and responsive representation in decisions that will have major local or regional impacts.
-
Support pro-active local governance and planning processes
-
In the last two decades, we have spearheaded the passage of local ordinances, municipal and county resolutions to the state, study committees, planning processes, and at every step we have facilitated public input and open respectful dialogue.
